LEARN MORE ABOUT LIME LEAVES
Lime leaves, also known as Kaffir lime leaves, are aromatic treasures derived from the Kaffir lime tree (Citrus hystrix). Revered for their bold citrus fragrance and distinctive flavor, lime leaves are a prized ingredient in the world of tea. These dark green, double-lobed leaves are used to infuse teas with a burst of citrusy freshness, creating a delightful and invigorating drinking experience.
In terms of flavor, Kaffir lime leaves contribute bright and zesty notes, characterized by a potent citrus aroma and a slightly sweet undertone. The leaves are known for their ability to impart a refreshing and tangy profile to tea blends. The versatility of lime leaves makes them suitable for both hot and iced teas, adding a tropical twist that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Lime leaves are often utilized in herbal and green tea blends, where their citrusy essence complements the natural flavors of the tea leaves. The leaves can be steeped alongside other herbs, such as lemongrass or mint, to create a harmonious infusion. Additionally, lime leaves are a popular addition to traditional Thai teas, where they contribute to the vibrant and aromatic character of the beverage. We combined all of these ideas to make our Thai Lemongrass Ginger tea.
Whether used to enhance the aroma and flavor of teas or incorporated into culinary creations, lime leaves stand as a versatile and aromatic ingredient. Their ability to infuse teas with a tropical zest makes them a favorite among tea enthusiasts seeking a refreshing and lively drinking experience.
